Finals Season: Five Jobs, Five Products to Have in the Back Pocket
Finals Season: Five Jobs, Five Products to Have in the Back Pocket

SIGNAGE | EVENTS | SHORT TERM APPLICATIONS
Finals and racing season have a habit of throwing some unusual jobs. One weekend you're producing sponsor signage for a major event. The next, you're wrapping a tricky surface, turning around a last-minute promotion or producing a feature installation that needs to look the part. And sometimes the right solution is something a little further down the shelf. Here are five jobs where knowing what else is in the range could make the job easier, faster or simply better suited to the brief.
1. The "it's only up for a weekend" job
1. The "it's only up for a weekend" job
Some signage has a very short life expectancy.
If the graphics are going up on Friday and coming down on Monday, the last thing you want is to spend hours fighting bubbles during installation or scraping adhesive residue off the surface when the event is over.
Supadot SD4000 is built for exactly this kind of job. The 100µ monomeric vinyl uses a unique DOT adhesive that allows air to escape between the adhesive dots, making it easy to apply without bubbles or wrinkles. It's also repositionable and removes cleanly without residue. That makes it particularly useful for short-term applications such as shop windows, temporary car window signage, displays and promotional graphics. And because it's designed to be simple to install, it's not just a product for the experienced installer. It's one of those rare vinyls that makes the installation itself a little less painful.
Have it in the back pocket for: temporary event graphics, retail promotions, shop windows and any job where it'll be coming down almost as quickly as it went up

2. The "the client's watching the budget" job
Not every event needs a premium, long-term signage solution. If a sponsor needs visibility for one weekend, a retailer needs a temporary campaign or an event needs hundreds of boards that won't be used again, spending more on a material designed for long-term performance may not make sense.
ProGrafik PP Fluted Sheet offers a cost-effective option for short and medium-term signage without compromising on the basics. The lightweight twin-wall polypropylene construction is rigid enough to provide a professional-looking finished sign while still being easy to handle, transport and install. Its bright white, graphics-grade surface delivers strong print performance, and it's UV-stabilised for outdoor durability. It's suitable for UV digital printing and screen printing, as well as applications using self-adhesive films. For event signage, real estate boards, retail promotions, construction signage and temporary advertising, it's a practical option when the brief is more about getting the job done well than creating something designed to last for years.
Have it in the back pocket for: high-volume event signage, sponsor boards, wayfinding, temporary campaigns and budget-conscious clients.
3. The "the venue has an eco quota" job
3. The "the venue has an eco quota" job
Sustainability requirements can turn up in an event brief just as quickly as a deadline does. More venues, brands and events are looking at what happens to signage after the event, which means the substrate can be just as important as the artwork.
TIGER BOARD™ is made from 100% paper and is 100% recyclable, giving signmakers an alternative to traditional PVC-based rigid boards for suitable applications. It's made from responsibly sourced raw materials and is designed to deliver an 80% reduction in environmental impact compared with traditional PVC boards. It doesn't sacrifice practicality either. TIGER BOARD™ has a smooth, even surface for high-quality print results, an excellent white point and a patented core structure that provides impressive flatness while keeping the board exceptionally lightweight. And when the event is over? It can go into the cardboard recycling bin.
Have it in the back pocket for: events with sustainability requirements, retail campaigns, POS, displays and short-term signage where end-of-life matters.

4. The "this surface is going to be a pain" job
Sometimes the problem isn't the artwork. It's the surface. Powder-coated machinery. Low-energy plastics. Textured surfaces. Masonry. Painted walls. These are the applications where standard print vinyl can start to struggle, and where choosing the right adhesive becomes a whole lot more important.
Supatac STD8110 is a polymeric, high-tack vinyl designed for longer-term applications where standard print vinyl simply doesn't adhere well enough. Its grey Air-Release Blockout High Tack Adhesive provides ultra-high-strength adhesion across a wide range of challenging surfaces, including low-energy plastics, powder-coated surfaces and even masonry such as brick. The blockout adhesive also helps prevent shadowing on overlapping joins, while the air-release construction makes application easier and helps avoid bubbles.
And this isn't just a product that sounds good on paper. STD8110G has been used in stadium applications, making it a particularly relevant option when you're dealing with the kind of large-scale, high-traffic environments that come with finals and major sporting events. It's also suitable for painted wall wraps, where the blockout properties help achieve a clean finish.
Have it in the back pocket for: painted wall wraps, stadium applications, machinery, powder coating, low-energy plastics, masonry and other surfaces where standard vinyl doesn't quite cut it.
5. The "prestige build" job
A stage element. A statement wall. Directional signage that forms part of the environment. A branded structure that needs to look like it was designed specifically for the space.
That's where PROBOND Decor® comes into play. The 3mm aluminium composite panel features a 0.30mm aluminium skin and is designed specifically for interior highlight applications, including feature walls, directional solutions, statement signage, formwork and branding. It also gives designers considerably more to work with than a standard flat panel. Depending on the finish, PROBOND Decor® can bring brushed or mirror metallic effects into the design, while the panel itself can be folded and cut using CNC routers.
And there's some serious event pedigree behind it too. PROBOND Decor® has been used on the AFL Grand Final stage, so it's no stranger to being part of a high-profile event environment.
Have it in the back pocket for: feature walls, stage builds, statement signage, internal branding and event installations where the material itself needs to be part of the design.
